Up for sale, a 1992 ESP Custom MX250 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted by the ESP Custom Shop in Japan, this iteration of the MX250 is identical to the iconic blacked-out ESP played by James Hetfield throughout the late ‘80s and ‘90s, seen extensively onstage and used to record some of Metallica’s most essential music.

Tonewoods include a mahogany body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard, ensuring plenty of natural midrange warmth and slick, glassy treble cut. The EMG 81s utilize ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, designed for optimal note detail, enhanced high end cut, and fluid sustain, engineered so that lead work will slice through even the densest mix with an aggressive snarl. This MX250 weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The gloss Black finish exhibits some shallow buckle wear central to the back, mild pick scuffing on top and some minor dings, largely limited to the back and perimeter. There is also a tan line of a previously removed “Metallica” sticker on top, only visible under UV light. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

The original form-fit faux leather gigbag is included (the Metallica logo has been added).
