{"product_id":"1988-epiphone-casino-electric-guitar-sunburst-pre-elitist-w-case-japan-terada","title":"1988 Epiphone Casino Electric Guitar Sunburst Pre-Elitist w\/ Case, Japan Terada","description":"Up for sale a 1988 Epiphone Casino in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Produced in Japan at the Terada factory and featuring a gloss Sunburst finish, this is an uncommon and early Epiphone reissue which preceded the current \"Elitist\" line. Acoustically, the fully hollow all-maple body has a smooth, bright tone which works well with the original pair of P-90 pickups. These pickups are wound to vintage spec with plenty of midrange bark, and a glassy, percussive quality. Whether you want articulate cleans or thick overdrive, these pickups can produce either with ease and with a refinement far beyond most other modern Casino reissues. The guitar is featherweight at only 6lbs 6oz. We've had this Casino professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in for optimal action and intonation with 9-42 strings (string gauge and setup can be adjusted according to buyer preference).The maple neck has a slender C profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and a hair more depth as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .800\" deep at the 1st fret and .880\" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a dark and tight-grained cut featuring pearl trapezoid inlay and practically perfect original medium jumbo frets which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with an ideally adjusted truss rod and low action all the way to the last fret. The original hand-carved bone nut measures 1 9\/16\" in width. The headstock retains the original Kluson-style nickel tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.The electronics are untouched, with nickel pickup covers on the P-90s and gold reflector cap knobs on the Volume and Tone controls. The nickel ABR-1 bridge has the correct \"Made in Japan\" text on the underside, and the orange oval label visible through the F hole has the correct five digit serial for Terada factory production. The nickel hardware shows light, uniform surface patina, and the guitar also retains the original pickguard with silkscreened epsilon. The Sunburst is one of the darker, richer bursts we’ve seen from the Terada factory, highlighting light birdseye figuring in the maple on top. The Sunburst is very vintage-correct with a dark amber center, central red ring, and deep burgundy-black edges. Cosmetic wear is limited to pick scuffing across the guard and a few light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss central to the back. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and silky smooth, with wear through the finish on the bass-side shoulder of the profile from frets 4-8.This Epiphone Casino is professionally setup and a rare, discontinued iteration made in Japan to standards that equal (and in some cases exceed) the current Elitist reissues.An era-correct black tolex Japanese hardshell case is included.","brand":"Epiphone","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":40131979378874,"sku":"85282","price":1949.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0550\/4437\/4714\/products\/medium_0c342450-e05e-44ce-8574-b9b8cbac8ec0.jpg?v=1751506774","url":"https:\/\/mmguitarbar.com\/products\/1988-epiphone-casino-electric-guitar-sunburst-pre-elitist-w-case-japan-terada","provider":"Mike \u0026 Mike's Guitar Bar","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
