Up for sale, a 1987 Yamaha “Super Axe” SA-1800 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An excellent example of premium Japanese craftsmanship put to the task of expanding and improving upon American designs, the upper-tiered SA-1800 features a carved spruce top, maple back and sides, alder centerblock, one-piece mahogany neck, and bound 22-fret ebony fingerboard.
Acoustically, this instrument has a lively, dynamic quality balanced by an overarching warmth, providing an ideal platform for the Spinex SAI humbucker pair. These pickups feature Alnico II magnet construction: the neck pickup is rich and full while retaining excellent top end clarity, and the bridge pickup has a warm growl with a terrific immediacy and bite. This SA-1800 weighs 7lbs 13oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
