Up for sale, a 1987 Guild Manhattan X-170 in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. First introduced in 1985 as a thinline version (relatively speaking at 2 1/2" deep) of Guild's X-175 archtop, the Manhattan X-170 was produced in particularly small quantities, and the model ceased production in 2003. Crafted in Guild's Westerly, RI factory, this USA-made premium hollowbody has a Blonde gloss nitro lacquer finish, with curly maple figuring extending liberally across the body.

The fully hollow maple body yields a warm, articulate natural acoustic tone, and the guitar is loaded with a rare set of Guild's four-conductor HB1 humbuckers. The HB-1s are lively, articulate, and warm, with just enough bite in the bridge position and ideal breadth and thickness at the neck, while retaining the detail needed for complex chord work. This Guild weighs 7lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation, and 11-49 flatwound strings.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Flame Maple
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .855” 1st fret, .905” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, block inlay
-Frets: Slender, hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”
-Tuners: Grover Rotomatics

Body Specs:

-Wood: Curly maple
-Pickups: HB-1 humbucker x2
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Tune-o-matic bridge, harp-style trapeze tailpiece
-Plastics: Reflector cap knobs, stepped pickguard

The Blonde nitro lacquer finish is accented by the gold-plated hardware which shows patina particularly on the pickup covers and tuner buttons. There is a small area of buckle wear central to the waist, and a few additional minor marks and light finish scratches, largely relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.

The original black tolex hardshell case with gold Guild silkscreen on the exterior is included.
