Up for sale, a 1986 Charvel by Jackson Model 2 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag. Made at the Chu Shin factory in Japan as part of a licensing agreement between IMC and Charvel/Jackson, the Model 2 is a pure, no-frills Super Strat with a single Jackson 90C humbucker, single Volume knob, and Kahler 2520 Traditional Fulcrum Tremolo.
The locking tremolo and slab rosewood fretboard differentiate the Model 2 from the Model 1, and this guitar features a quartersawn maple neck and basswood body. The sound is immediate and clear, with the added warmth of the rosewood board, providing an ideal acoustic platform for the J90C ceramic magnet humbucker. This high-output humbucker is built to shred, offering high gain crunch for monster chording and white-hot melodic playing. Weighing 7lbs 11oz, this Model 2 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.
The quartersawn rock maple neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders in every register, measuring .745” deep at the 1st fret and .875” deep at the 12th. The thick slab 22 fret rosewood fretboard features a 12-16” compound radius, and the stock jumbo fretwire is practically perfect, with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-3. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width, holding steady against deep dives via the Kahler tremolo. On the headstock, the stock “Jackson”-stamped black Gotoh-made tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.
All the electronics function as intended, with a single Volume knob governing the Jackson humbucker. The original pot dates to September, 1986. The Kahler 2520 Fulcrum tremolo is a very effective piece of hardware with brass roller saddles and a quick, fluid response, and the dome-topped knurled knob rounds out the hardware. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish is limited to some very light buckle worming central to the back and a handful of minor dings on the body as a whole, largely concentrated along the lower bout perimeter. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.
A gigbag is included.
