Up for sale, a 1985 Roland Juo-106 analog polyphonic synthesizer in excellent condition and in perfect working order, augmented with the KiwiTechnics Kiwi-106 suite of mods. The Juno-106 is one of the most enduringly popular Roland synths of the '80s, virtually the same synth engine as its predecessor the Juno 60, yet with extensive MIDI capability and over twice the patch memory storage. The Kiwi-106 mod package adds a remarkable amount of functionality and flexibility to this beloved synth, significantly expanding the overall feature list and capabilities of this synth for an ideal pairing of classic sounds and modern efficacy.
The Juno-106 is a six-voice polyphonic and programmable analog synth with one digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) per voice, and the use of built-in Chorus really fattens things up for an immediately identifiable, quintessential ‘80s sound that yields plenty of analog warmth and great stability via the DCO configuration. The 24dB/oct analog lowpass filter offers loads of resonance and self-oscillation possibilities, and the Juno-106 also features a non-resonant high pass filter. The programmable pitch/mod bender can be assigned to control the DCO pitch, VCF cutoff, and LFO amount all at once or individually.
And that’s just the base unit: the Kiwi-106 mod delivering a vast array of expansions and functions including:
-Expanded synthesis architecture with dual envelopes and multi-waveform LFOs
-A storage upgrade to eight groups of 64 patches (512 total, 128 Factory Patches preloaded), all of which can be edited and stored in Flash memory (no battery required), Bend controls stored with the patch
-An upgraded MIDI system designed for usage in modern studios/on stages, including control over Aftertouch, Modulation Level, and Dynamics
-Comprehensive re-routing of controls
-High resolution parameters
-A six-voice polyphonic 124-step sequencer
-Expanded Arpeggiator and Sequencer functionality, with each independently divided from the Master Clock
-A pattern generator, which can use the Arp or Seq clocks
-Chord Mode, wherein any chord with up to 6 notes can be set and played from any key
Extremely well-kept, there are just a few faint marks on the enclosure. The graphics are clean (including the new KiwiTechnics graphics), and all of the sliders and knobs are intact.
The Kiwi-106 user manual is included.
