Up for sale, a 1985 Peavey Patriot vintage electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Handcrafted in the USA by Peavey, this Patriot draws inspiration from Fender's Lead III, featuring a solid mahogany body paired with a one-piece maple neck. This tonewood pairing delivers the warmth and rich sonic foundation of mahogany balanced by the articulate snap and note attack of maple, channeled through the original pair of Super Ferrite single coil pickups. These large ceramic magnet single coil blade pickups are hum cancelling, offering a touch of underlying growl with a full, meaty neck position sound and a snappy, snarling bridge. This Patriot is featherweight at 6lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, comfortable action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a very slender and fast-feeling C-shaped profile with rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 12th. The maple fretboard sports an easy-playing 12” radius with stock medium jumbo fretwire. The frets have good height and meat, with uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-5, extending exclusively beneath the plain strings to fret 12th, and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly in every register, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4“, and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The headstock features the distinct Peavey black trim, with delta string tree and stock set of Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
The stock electronics work as they should, with a three-way toggle switch and Master Volume and Tone controls for the Super Ferrite pickups. The original full-size CTS pots date to August, 1985. Plastics include the original black speed knobs and clean black pickup covers. The hardtail bridge features individual saddles for optimal intonation, with light patina on the base and plenty of shine on the chrome. The large black three-ply pickguard shows some requsite pick scuffing, with a small stabilized split extending from the screw next to the Tone knob. Cosmetically, the satin-finished mahogany body is quite clean, with minuscule marks and scuffs mostly relegated to the back and body parameter. The neck profile sports a pristine smooth gloss finish.
A gigbag is included.
