Up for sale, a 1984 Gibson Les Paul Custom in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with hangtags and the original hardshell case. This stunning Les Paul Custom Black Beauty boasts Tim Shaw PAF humbuckers, "Speed Winder" tuning machines, and a gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish which has aged to perfection with extensive spiderweb lacquer checking.

Weighing 9lbs 7oz, this Les Paul Custom features a suite of traditional tonewoods, with a carved maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, and a bound ebony fingerboard. The guitar offers plenty of natural muscle, treble cut and sweet sustain, and at the heart of this Les Paul Custom are a pair of Tim Shaw PAF humbuckers. These pickups represent Gibson's first, and arguably one of their best, attempts at recreating the magic of their late '50s humbucker design. Offered for only a few short years in the '80s, the Shaws are designed with unoriented, rough cast Alnico V magnets, plastic spacers, and poly-coated wire, achieving the harmonic complexity, sensitivity to picking dynamics, and tonal clarity of the original PAF. This Les Paul Custom benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish is framed by deeply ambered binding and exhibits extensive “shattered glass” lacquer checking. Cosmetic wear is limited to buckle rash on the back at the bass-side waist and some minor dings on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, also exhibiting extensive checking, with a couple shallow marks along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.

The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the hangtags.
