Up for sale, a 1982 Epiphone Casino in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Produced in Japan at the Matsumoku factory and featuring a full 1 11/16" wide nut (a feature not offered across all Matsumoku Casino production), this is one of the first Epiphone Casinos ever offered with a Natural gloss finish from the factory, replicating the iconic appearance of John Lennon's "Revolution" Casino.
Via the hollowbody construction, this Casino has a smooth and lively acoustic tone, with plenty of natural warmth faithfully captured by the stock Maxon-made dogear P-90 pickups. The pickups have the midrange bark and percussive cut associated with P-90s; a dynamic, glassy snap in the top end; and a broad bass register when overdriven. Offering a refinement far beyond most modern Casino reissues, this vintage Japanese iteration is simply a compelling, easy-playing guitar. Featherweight at 6lbs 4oz, this Casino has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Natural finish highlights subtle figuring in the maple on top and back at the lower bout, framed by binding that shows a bit of localized ambering. There are just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body, and the gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The tuners were at one time swapped for Klusons, with the extra mounting holes cleanly doweled, and there is one small chip on the top headstock edge.
A padded faux leather gigbag is included.
