Up for sale, a 1981 Maxon OD-9 Overdrive in excellent condition, complete with the original box. Identical in circuitry to the Ibanez-branded version, the OD-9 (branded for Ibanez's parent company Maxon) is a direct descendant of the venerable TS-808 Tube Screamer, featuring an almost identical tonal response. Just a bit brighter and more aggressive than an 808, the OD-9 has sweet, pronounced midrange content, powerful boost capabilities, and smooth overdrive characteristics, delivering a tone that has been endlessly copied.
All controls work as they should and the switch engages easily. The pots have all been sprayed out and turn smoothly too. The circuit is 100% original, featuring the distinctive green resistors and Nichicon capacitors that date to 1981 on the Maxon-branded board. The original JRC4558 chip is intact.
Wear on the bright green enclosure is restrained, with a few small finish chips and dings, clean graphics and original knobs. The original battery cover is present, and the serialized black foil label is fully intact.
