Up for sale, a 1981 Alembic Distillate in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This early Distillate iteration, produced for export to the Japanese domestic market, features Alembic’s traditional five-piece neck-through construction, active electronics, and premium tonewoods.

The neck is crafted from maple/purpleheart, flanked by mahogany body wings with a zebrawood tops, capped by a 24-fret-ebony fingerboard. This Distillate has a complex, resonant natural acoustic tone, faithfully translated by the centrally located humbucker. This pickup is warm and sweet; with clean, singing highs; tight lows; and plenty of harmonic complexity in the midrange. The trio of two-way mini toggles include the Filter/Tone switch (aka the “Q” Switch), which works in tandem with the Frequency (Tone) knob for what is effectively an onboard wah effect, a Mellow Filter switch, which rounds off the top end, and a Bass Cut switch for single coil-style chime. This Distillate weighs 9lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Natural finish exhibits subtle checking, with pick scuffing on top (primarily constrained to the control plate), a bit of buckle rash central to the back, and some minor dings along the lower bout perimeter. The gloss on the neck profile also exhibits checking, smooth and clean in the hand.
