Up for sale, a 1980s Valley Arts Steve Lukather Signature “Robot” in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This exceedingly rare Valley Arts offering, part of the M Series, is an eye-catching and infamous variant on the Steve Lukather Signature model, which was produced from 1986 into the early ‘90s. The “Robot”-finished model was used extensively by Luke himself on stage and in the studio, quickly accruing a reputation among fans for its wonderfully weird design.

This guitar boasts a myriad of premium features, including an HSS trio of active EMG pickups and a Floyd Rose tremolo. The tonewood complement comprises a mahogany body and a birdseye maple neck capped by a slab rosewood fretboard, resulting in a naturally rich and resonant acoustic tone that is faithfully captured by the trio of EMG pickups. Powered by a 9V battery, the pickups feature an EMG 85 humbucker in the bridge position and two SAs in the neck and middle positions; the 85 humbucker features Alnico V magnets and close aperture coils, offering incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. The two SA Alnico V single coil pickups have a classic Strat-style sound that’s bright and airy while also being hum-canceling, offering more midrange presence and low end punch than a traditional single coil. This Steve Lukather Signature weighs 7lbs 13oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.

The “Robot” finish features a pair of lascivious automatons in the cosmos, and cosmetic wear includes some dings on the back along the lower bout perimeter, a few faint finish scratches on the back that fall short of “buckle rash," and some minor dings on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless and highlights the birdseye and curly flame figuring in the maple.

A modern black tolex hardshell case is included.
