Up for sale, a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Standard in collector-grade, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original “chainsaw” case and hangtags. A quintessential Norlin-era example, this Les Paul features a pair of T Top humbuckers and a gloss Tobacco Sunburst nitro lacquer finish.
The three-piece carved maple top, solid (non-sandwich) mahogany body, and maple neck deliver the classic range of sounds indicative of this tonewood combination, with great clarity, note attack and fundamental warmth. The T Top humbuckers deliver growl and potent aggression in the bridge position, while the middle position on the three-way toggle has an ideal rhythm sound, round and percussive. The neck position humbucker has warmth and punch, providing a perfect lead sound with a sweetness that lends itself to complex chord voicings. This Les Paul weighs 9lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
