This one-of-a-kind instrument has been professionally converted from its original 6-string SG700 base model and fitted with a 12-string neck by pioneering Japanese luthier Takahiro Shimo, globally renowned for his intricate and "never-before-seen" designs. After studying at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in the United States, Shimo went on to craft artist models and high-end custom-made guitars for Morris Musical Instruments Co., Ltd. before establishing Shimoguitars in 1982, and while sparingly little information is available on this particular instrument, the headstock sports an aftermarket "Cecil 12 String Guitar Customized by Shimo" decal on the peghead face, indicating that this instrument was altered by Shimo himself.

Weighing 9lbs 10oz, this guitar boasts maple set-neck construction, a carved maple top, and solid mahogany body, taking Gibson's tried and true tonewood combination and utilizing it to great effect. Plugged in, the pickups meter 7.2k ohms at the neck and 8.6k ohms at the bridge, delivering a clear, broad, and punchy low end, while the treble response has a silky, singing quality. Both humbuckers feature individual push/push coil taps as well, offering sparkling single coil tonalities. This SG Series Custom 12-String benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

- Wood: Maple
- Shape: Slim C, measuring .815” 1st fret, .945” 12th fret
- Fretboard: Rosewood, 14” radius, dot inlay
- Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
- Scale Length: 24 3/4”
- Nut: 1 11/16”
- Tuners: Kluson-style

Body Specs:

- Wood: Maple, mahogany
- Pickups: Humbucker x2, 54.12.15 date stamps on baseplates translate to 54th year of Showa period (1979)
- Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2 (push/push coil taps), three-way pickup selector
- Hardware: Tune-o-matic-style bridge, stopbar
- Plastics: Cream pickguard, gold speed knobs

The gloss Cherry finish has buckle rash central to the back and a couple small chips on the lower bout perimeter, with various minor dings and finish scratches on the body as a whole, and a small area of texturing in the gloss on the neck heel.
