The definitive Hiwatt head, the DR103 is notably louder than its Marshall Super Lead 100 watt equivalent, offering tremendous headroom, even-ordered harmonics, and a distinctive grind and punch that's pure vintage Hiwatt. Extremely powerful and searing with pummeling low end, this Hiwatt can achieve saturated roar and robust cleans with an incredibly dynamic, touch-sensitive responsiveness, ideally voiced through the paired 1976 SE123 4x12 speaker cabinet.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe amp features a two-channel circuit (Normal and Brilliant), and each channel is distinctively voiced. While the Normal Channel is engineered to stay clean all the way up the dial, the Brilliant Channel can achieve saturation and overdriven grind via its hotter input when really cooking (higher output pickups also assist in pushing the DR103 to an ideal saturation point). The preamps have their own dedicated Volume knobs, with a global three-band EQ and Presence knob, followed by a Master Volume. The back panel features a modern three-prong power cable, ohm selector, voltage selector, and pair of 1\/4\" outputs.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe circuit is freshly serviced and has been given a clean bill of health by our techs here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar, retaining the stock pair of Partridge transformers. The turret board preamp retains a bevy of original Mullard mustard caps with date codes from ‘76 and ‘77, and all of the original pots are intact save for one replacement CTS pot on the Bright Volume control. The bias supply has been rebuilt with brand new capacitors, and the screen grid resistors have been replaced. The tube complement includes a quartet of properly biased Electro-Harmonix EL34 power tubes, with Groove Tubes 12AX7 valves in the preamp. The Hylight-era Hiwatt badge on the back is intact, with a serial number dating to 1979.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe SE4123 speaker cabinet is loaded with the original quad of 12” Sound City 122190 Power Speakers, manufactured by Fane with 40 watts of power handling and date codes on the clean silver frames translating to the 51st week of ‘71 and 2nd week of ‘72.
