Up for sale, a 1978 Greco EG900 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An upper-tiered "lawsuit era" Les Pauls produced by Greco at Japan's Fujigen factory, this EG900 preceded the "Super Real" series of instruments, boasting premium features including factory-installed Dimarzio PAF pickups. And while no legal action was taken against Greco for their instruments, it's worth noting that Gibson would later use the same Fujigen factory to produce their Orville line of guitars exclusively for their Japanese customers.

Taking a page from Gibson's early 1970s playbook, tonewoods include a two-piece maple top over a sandwich mahogany body, and a three-piece mahogany neck capped with a dark rosewood fingerboard. At 11lbs 9oz, this Greco dishes out plenty of natural sustain and sonic authority, qualities that are translated faithfully through the Dimarzio PAF humbuckers. These pickups are rich and articulate, with growl and power in the bridge position, balanced by a present, smooth neck pickup. For saturated lead lines that truly sing while being equal parts thick and clear, the neck position humbucker roars, and when both pickups are engaged there's an array of great rhythm tones at your fingertips. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Greco with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder and a fast feel, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .920" at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard features fret edge binding and pearloid trapezoid inlay, and the vintage-spec medium jumbo fretwire has good meat, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-2. This Greco plays cleanly in every register up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The original hand-carved bone nut is intact, measuring 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original "Standard" truss rod cover is present, as well as the pearloid inlaid Greco logo and set of nickel-plated Rotomatic-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, with 500k pots, green chiclet tone caps, and factory installed USA-made Dimarzio PAF humbuckers with double cream bobbins. The solder joints are untouched, the control cavity retains the factory shielding, and the full-size pots date to 1978. Hardware includes the Nashville-style bridge and corresponding stopbar tailpiece, and plastics comprise cream pickup rings and switch surround, and a quartet of near mint gold bonnet knobs.

The Cherry Sunburst gloss finish is rich and bold, exhibiting light finish scratches on the back, and a couple minor marks on the body as a whole. There are also two finish chips, one on the bass side edge of the top, and the other on the back lower bout body edge adjacent to the control cavity. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless, with very faint cloudiness in the gloss on the neck heel.

A gigbag is included.
