Up for sale, a 1978 Greco Country Artist in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This extremely rare Greco is a faithful recreation of a Gretsch Country Gentleman circa 1962, accurate down to the smallest details including painted-on F holes, “G” pointer knobs, and a snap-on back pad.
Tonewoods include a 17” wide fully hollow thinline maple body, maple neck, and bound rosewood fretboard. The painted-on F holes are a simple, elegant solution to mitigate unwanted feedback in higher volume scenarios, and the Filter’Tron-style humbuckers (wound for Greco by Maxon) deliver a range of quintessential Gretsch-esque tonalities, with plenty of brilliant chewy twang and sparkle. Offering a versatile range of sounds, the Country Artist is well-suited to capturing Chet Atkins' detailed chordal arrangements and singing leads, or the sweetness and cut of George Harrison’s British invasion tone. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
A vintage Epiphone-branded hardshell case is included.
