Up for sale, a 1975 Greco EG1000R in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. This high end Greco EG model was produced at the Fujigen factory in Japan and does an excellent job of capturing the finer points of a Gibson Les Paul Custom, with a fast-feeling neck profile carve, genuine ebony fingerboard, and Maxon-made U-3000 humbuckers. The EG1000 was also one of the highest grade Greco LP models of the era, with an original sticker price of 100,000 yen.

A direct response to the Norlin-era Les Paul Custom, this model features a carved two-piece maple cap, “sandwich” mahogany body, and a three-piece maple neck. Weighing 9lbs 12oz, this Greco has plenty of natural sustain and punch, providing an ideal platform for the Maxon U-3000 humbuckers. A highly sought-after Maxon humbucker, the U-3000s pickups are one of the highest grade pickups offered on any Greco of their era, featuring Alnico 8 magnets with a response akin to a PAF. The bridge pickup has strong chirp and honk, with a touch-sensitive feel and midrange growl, while the neck pickup is particularly fat and velvety. This EG1000R has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Cherry Sunburst finish is bright and vibrant, and the center seam on the carved maple top has been reglued on the lower bout. Cosmetic wear is limited to faint buckle rash central to the back and just a few minor dings on the body as a whole, largely on the lower bout. The gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

A gigbag is included.
