1975-gibson-sg-standard-vintage-electric-guitar-cherry-w-tarbacks-case
1975 Gibson SG Standard Vintage Electric Guitar Cherry w/ Tarbacks & Case
Up for sale, a 1975 Gibson SG Standard in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Featuring a gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish, this SG Standard is 100% original save for a professional refret.Loaded with the original "Tarback" humbuckers, which have a different magnet structure and fewer winds than the T Tops produced in the same era, this pickup pair is an ideal pairing for the SG's solid mahogany construction. Coupled with the black epoxy that gave these humbuckers their name and ensures great feedback rejection by suppressing microphonics, the Tarbacks are a lively, sparkling pickup pair. Plugged in, the bridge pickup has a surprising twang and clarity, but with a smooth top end, while the middle and neck positions have plenty of warmth and girthy bass response. Featherweight at 6lbs 9oz, this guitar is very acoustically resonant too. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation, this SG has a tone that roars with the best of them, delivering a sound that is undeniably classic Gibson.The three-piece mahogany neck has an extremely slender, fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve at the nut, gaining significant roundness and heft as you travel up the fretboard, with a particularly chunky feel from the 9th fret and beyond. The profile shape is effortless for chording at the nut, offering ideal heft for soloing further up the neck, measuring .750" deep at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features small block inlay and has been professionally refretted with vintage-spec fretwire that's just shy of medium jumbo, offering ample meat and crown, and exhibiting no wear. The guitar plays cleanly in every register, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted. The scale length is 24 3/4", and the nut measures 1 9/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Gibson-branded Schaller-made nickel tuning machines are intact with metal tulip buttons. This SG also has the unique stickered serial number first seen in '75.On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints and visible dates on the CTS pots from '75. The original harmonica bridge and stopbar tailpiece are intact, and the chrome plating on the hardware is nice and bright, showing light pitting on the bass-side edge of the bridge pickup cover and bridge, and also on the tulip tuner buttons. All of the original plastic parts are present including the quartet of black speed knobs, pickup rings, and pickguard. The vibrant Cherry nitro lacquer gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, and cosmetic wear is limited to a targeted spot of light buckle rash central to the back, and some scattered nicks on the body perimeter, mostly on the lower bout body edge and the outer edge of the treble-side body horn. The mahogany neck retains its smooth nitro gloss, free of palm wear with only a few tiny nicks and one very faint scratch central to the carve which isn’t distracting to the palm in the slightest.The original black tolex hardshell case is included with a silver silkscreen Gibson logo on the exterior. The case features a red plush interior, original handle, and stock latches.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0550/4437/4714/products/medium_db533efd-c3d8-4253-a59f-ace1ab819d4e.jpg?v=1751504133
https://mmguitarbar.com/products/1975-gibson-sg-standard-vintage-electric-guitar-cherry-w-tarbacks-case
