Up for sale, a 1975 Gibson Les Paul Signature in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Faultless hardshell case. Easily among the more unique instruments to ever sport the Les Paul branding/endorsement (and designed with direct involvement from the man himself), the Norlin-era Signature was produced from 1973-79, featuring thinline semi-hollow construction, Goldtop nitro lacquer finish, dual outputs (Hi and Lo impedance), and a pair of low impedance pickups.
Ingenious in its construction, the Les Paul Signature does have a maple center block attached to the back to reduce feedback, yet there's purposeful space between the top and the block so that the top can vibrate freely and produce a tonal breadth more in-line with a fully hollow instrument. Outfitted with a pair of low impedance “Super Humbucking” pickups (not to be confused with the Bill Lawrence-designed pickup of the same moniker), the Signature provides a traditional palette of humbucker tones, but with settings that could also provide deeper bass and brighter highs that can transition from silky, to bell-like, to searing. The three-way rotary Level knob was designed to match the instrument's tone with different amplifiers: the three settings are 50 (strongest signal, heaviest bass), 200 (increased upper midrange and treble frequencies, reduced fundamental) and 500 (maximum treble and reduced fundamental characteristics), and the Phase In/Out control enables slinky out-of-phase sounds. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, this Les Paul Signature has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The Goldtop nitro lacquer finish has darkened and aged, exhibiting broad checking and oxidation where the forearm crosses the top, framed by deeply ambered binding. There is limited buckle rash central to the back and minor dings on the body, largely relegated to the lower bout perimeter. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth, highlighting flame figuring in the maple, with a touched-up area of rack rash behind fret 11. The neck does have a twist favoring the treble side, compensated for with the bridge alignment and nut slots so that the guitar plays cleanly in every register with proper action.
The original Faultless black tolex hardshell case is included. All but one of the latches is functional and the stock handle is intact.
