1973-guild-s-100nb-natural-vintage-guitar-100-original-w-case
1973 Guild S-100NB Natural Vintage Guitar 100% Original w/ Case
Up for sale, a 1973 Guild S-100NB in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. A vintage example produced in the USA at Guild's Westerly, RI factory, the S-100 model is arguably best associated with Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, who used one extensively throughout his career.

Featherweight at 6lbs 10oz, the S-100NB takes many design cues from the Gibson SG (albeit with asymmetrical horns), and features the same tonewood construction consisting of a mahogany body and neck paired with a rosewood fingerboard. The HB-1 humbuckers offer sweet, thick chug, channeling the rich growI of the mahogany build. The neck position is extra bold and beefy, while the bridge has a more focused, throaty bite. The two-way Phase mini toggle delivers a bold thinned-out cut when both pickups are engaged, and it's a very useful additional texture beyond the in-phase sounds on the three-way pickup selector toggle. This S-100NB has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Neck Specs:

-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .790” 1st fret, .880” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, 12” radius, 22-fret, block inlays
-Frets: Slender, faint wear beneath plain strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1.650” (42mm)
-Headstock: Chesterfield inlay
-Tuners: Grover Rotomatics
-Serialization: Five-digit stamp dates to ‘73

Body Specs:

-Wood: Mahogany
-Pickups: HB-1 Humbucker x2 (neck baseplate pencil-dated 7-20-73)
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, Phase mini-toggle, three-way pickup selector
-Harness: Stackpole pots date to the 5th week of ‘72 and 10th week of ‘73
-Hardware: Roller bridge, tailpiece, switch tip
-Plastics: One-ply transparent pickguard (Guild graphic), “G” reflector cap knobs
-Serialization: Oval label on inside control cavity cover

The gloss Natural (or Natural Blonde via the “NB” model suffix) finish presents very cleanly, with horizontal checking, an area of shallow buckle wear on the treble-side of the back, and some small dings and finish scratches.
