This second iteration of the Tele Thinline model was introduced in '72, and this example has dates spanning 1972-73.The guitar boasts a pair of original Seth Lover designed Fender \"Wide Range\" humbuckers, and these pickups deliver some of the most clear, powerful, and rich tones ever heard on a Fender. As the chief architect of Gibson's PAF humbucker, Lover certainly knew how to craft a dynamic and balanced pickup, and the Wide Range design succeeds in delivering glassy, percussive cleans that have an incredible amount of warmth and nuance. With a mahogany body, this Tele delivers the inherent qualities of this uncommon Fender tonewood, with smooth warmth and growl, complimented by the airy nature of a semi-hollow body. Weighing 8lbs 11oz, this Tele Thinline is well-balanced on a strap, with a range of tones suitable for a variety of genres. Professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar, this Tele is freshly restrung with 10-46 roundwound strings and dialed in with low action and spot-on intonation.The one-piece maple neck has a U-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .875\" deep at the 1st fret and .920\" at the 12th. The maple fingerboard has been professionally refretted with medium jumbo fretwire that offers long fret life and effortless bending, retaining the original 7 1\/4\" radius. The fretboard has also been refinished in a smooth gloss as part of the refret process (standard practice on maple fretboards), matching the lightly ambered tint of the original gloss on the neck profile. The neck is straight and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. A new hand-carved bone nut has been installed, measuring 1 9\/16\" in width, ensuring optimal note clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the original Fender F tuners hold pitch well. The neck heel retains its original and very bold date stamp from November of 1972.All of the electronics function as intended, with original Wide Range humbuckers and CTS pots which date to the 43rd week of '73. The original body routes are untouched and the control cavity is factory shielded. The clean white pearloid pickguard has great dimension and some light upward buckling between the screw holes as is common with these guards. The chrome plating on the hardware is clean, with some pick scuffing across the embossed neck pickup cover.The original gloss finish (also called Mahogany in Fender's original advertising) shows a sliver of wear through the gloss where the forearm crosses the top. There are some small scattered dings, largely relegated to the body perimeter (with one of note on top between the F hole and pickguard edge), and a spot of light buckle rash central to the back. The original gloss finish is also retained on the neck profile with some small scattered marks on the profile length, and nothing distracting to the palm while fretting.The original black tolex hardshell case is included with a trio of functional latches, clean black leather ends, the original handle, and raised Fender logo on the exterior.","brand":"Fender","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":42576323510528,"sku":"368761","price":6799.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0550\/4437\/4714\/products\/medium_ee8cb7ab-ab7a-42c4-b99b-b79c03e14e27.jpg?v=1751532992","url":"https:\/\/mmguitarbar.com\/products\/1973-fender-telecaster-thinline-vintage-electric-guitar-mahogany-body-w-case-wide-range","provider":"Mike \u0026 Mike's Guitar Bar","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
