Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. This SG Special is an uncommon iteration of the model, notable for its pair of Pat. # mini humbuckers (instead of the P-90s more commonly seen with the model, on earlier and later versions).
The mahogany body and three-piece mahogany neck deliver plenty of natural warmth and rich midrange cut, and this SG is featherweight at 6lbs 7oz. The pair of Pat. # mini humbuckers are exceedingly versatile, yielding the warmth, nuance, and power of traditional humbuckers with more jangle and snap in the top end. The bridge pickup has a focused snarl, and the neck is exceedingly broad and warm while retaining articulation superior to most full-size humbucker designs. This SG Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
