Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG Deluxe in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Already a short-lived and upper-tiered SG model, the SG Deluxe was only offered from 1971-72. This very late example features the much more desirable traditionally rear-mounted controls, omitting the large control plate on the guitar's face seen on most examples of the Deluxe model.
Weighing only 7lbs 3oz, traditional tonewoods include a mahogany body and three-piece neck capped with a bound rosewood fretboard, and the guitar dishes out plenty of natural warmth and bark. The T-Top humbuckers offer a distinct sound in every pickup position, with more upper midrange cut and aggression from the bridge pickup, while the neck pickup has a fat, open chime. The Walnut gloss nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with the exception of a small new piece of V-shaped mahogany added and color matched surrounding the input jack. The guitar shows buckle rash on the back, various dings and scuffs along the body edges and back headstock edge, and some shallow marks along the neck profile worn smooth through play.
The original hardshell case is included, with functional latches, the original handle, and Gibson silkscreen on the lid.
