1970s Korg Preset 900PS Vintage Monophonic Analog Synthesizer, Serviced

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 1970s Korg Preset 900PS synth in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, fully serviced by Synapse Audio Systems. This rare monophonic synth is pure ‘70s analog goodness, featuring a simple control configuration with 29 tonal presets. Introduced in 1975, this synth is similar in many ways to the Arp Pro-Soloist, with sounds on tap ranging from chugging white noise to sweet ‘70s synth bell tones easily accessed via the soft-touch switches.

The 29 presets include: Timpani, Electric Bass, Synthe Bass, Piano, Harpsichord, Shamisen, Banjo, Mandolin, Xylophone, Tube, Bassoon, Horn, Cello, Trombone, Saxophone, Voice, Clarinet, Accordion, Trumpet, Funky Trumpet, Synthe Trumpet, Oboe, Violin, Recorder, White Noise, Scale Noise, Harmonics I, Harmonics II, and Harmonics III. The 900PS features a very unique chromium “touch bar” spanning the length of the keyboard: this bar is used for after-touch effects when touched, with assignable Repeat, Forte, Pitch, Vibrato, and Portamento controls adding a further layer of tactile interaction. The Traveler slider is a Filter control, and there are independent level sliders for the four Harmonics, with Attack, Sustain, Vibrato, Vibrato Repeat, and Portamento controls. The 900PS also has a 1/4” Headphones output on the front of the unit.

Recent servicing includes a thorough cleaning of all components, rebuilt key contacts and a repaired Traveler. The opamp driver has been rebuilt, and the synth has been calibrated.

Cosmetic touches include multi-ply wood paneling, vibrant colored knobs/sliders/switches, and independent soft-touch switches for all 29 presets. The 37 keys have great bounciness and smooth action, and cosmetic wear on this synth is limited to a handful of minor scuffs on the top and bottom of the unit. The graphics are pristine, and the four rubber feet are intact on the bottom.
