A very clean Fender console steel with its original gloss Olympic White finish, the Studio Deluxe essentially is identical to the Champ steel, save for the trio of chrome-plated legs and corresponding flanges on the underside of the steel. The tone is quintessential Fender single coil richness and chime, and the pickup is for all intents and purposes a gray bobbin Stratocaster pickup with flat pole pieces. There's a bell-like sweetness to the sound that is equal parts twang and silk, and few instruments have a more pure, simple signal path.The playing surface is clean, and the Fender-embossed chrome headstock overlay houses the stock double-line Kluson tuners. The electronics are untouched, with original solder joints and Stackpole pots that date to the 17th week of 1966. The gray bobbin pickup is hand-dated 10-1-68. The bridge cover is intact (with the serial number beneath it), and the chrome on the control plate is positively gleaming, along with the original pair of knurled knobs. Wear on the Olympic White gloss finish is limited to some finish checking at both ends of the steel, and only a few additional minor marks on the body edges.The original black tolex hardshell case with orange interior is included, and the case retains its original handle and trio of functional latches. The original legs fit neatly inside the case, and there is some tolex loss on roughly 25% of the case's lid.
