Up for sale, a 1967 Gibson ES-175D in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Loaded with a pair of Gibson’s Pat # pickups, these humbuckers are the direct descendants of the PAF (predating the T Top), wound notably hot with original windings and untouched solder on the covers.
Acoustically, the fully hollow maple body delivers a big, open sound with both the immediate attack and clarity of maple, and an airy, smooth quality befitting the hollowbody construction. The Pat # humbuckers meter at 8k ohms in the bridge position and a potent 9.7k ohms at the neck. The bridge has an accentuated upper midrange detail, offering plenty of presence and growl, while the neck pickup is expansive and harmonically complex. This ES-175D is featherweight at 6lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The guitar does exhibit a headstock repair, very cleverly addressed with the addition of a volute for additional stability, cleanly masked with black lacquer overspray. The back of the headstock also has a small “2” for some small finish flaw indistinguishable after nearly 60 years.
The gloss Sunburst nitro lacquer is otherwise 100% original, exhibiting subtle checking on the body. There are some light finish scratches on the back, well shy of “buckle rash,” and a few small dings on the top and rims.
The original black tolex hardshell case with gold interior is included.
