Finished in custom color Sparkling Burgundy, this USA-made vintage Epiphone was produced right alongside the Gibsons of the day in the same Kalamazoo, MI factory. This Riviera has the same tonewoods and general construction as the ES-335, with a semi-hollow maple body and one-piece Honduran mahogany neck. Of course the two features that make the Riviera such a unique and compelling guitar both tonally and visually are the chrome patent sticker mini humbuckers and Frequensator trapeze tailpiece.If you're looking for the sonic range and versatility of a 335, yet with a more articulate top end and bell-like chime, the Riviera is the perfect choice. The bridge pickup is detailed and balanced, with a touch of growl and great sensitivity to your picking dynamics, while the neck pickup has notably more girth while still retaining clarity. The mini humbuckers really do re-voice the classic humbucker sound in a great way, and it's a perfect middle ground for players that gravitate towards humbuckers but also want a bit more snap and tighter bass response, features typically reserved for single coils. Acoustically, the guitar has excellent projection and bark, and at only 7lbs 13oz, it's easy on the back too. We've professionally setup this Riviera here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar, dialing it in with solid intonation, low action, and fresh 10-46 strings.The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C profile carve at the nut with full shoulders in every register, gaining more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .830\" deep at the 1st fret and .985\" at the 12th. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard features pearloid trapezoid inlay and the original medium jumbo fretwire. The frets show light, uniform wear on the crowns of frets 1-5, with wear extending more faintly beneath the plain strings until fret 7, playing effortlessly up the 24 3\/4\" scale with a straight neck and ideally adjusted truss rod. The stock nut measures 1 9\/16\" in width, and the headstock is fitted with the original Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines with metal buttons. One tuner is actually an earlier \"single line\" Kluson which matches the set in terms of its faint surface patina, likely a \"bottom of the bin\" scenario and ostensibly original to the instrument.All of the electronics function as intended, with untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to '66, matching the date range of the serial number. Both mini humbuckers retain their original patent stickers on the baseplates, and the neck pickup cavity reveals the long neck tenon. The chrome hardware is very clean with just a hint of pick wear across the neck humbucker cover, and the ABR-1 bridge and Pat. Pending Frequensator tailpiece are both original, with the correct patent number and foundry stamp on the bridge base. The original quartet of witch hat knobs are intact, and the faintly aged white three-ply pickguard is intact with the original raised Epsilon \"E\" badge. Visible through the bass-side F hole, the blue rectangular Epiphone serial\/model badge is visible with perfect text and unfaded paper.The original nitro lacquer Sparkling Burgundy finish is an opaque metallic red, showing the usual bronzing on top consistent with the aging of this particular custom color. There is broad lacquer checking and oxidation where the forearm crosses the top, at the bass-side waist on the back, and also on the neck profile. The back of the guitar and area beneath the pickguard retain the original more ruddy shade of Sparkling Burgundy, and cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to a few small indentations in the finish consistent with careful usage and age, and minor wear through to the basecoat on back of the bass side body horn.A vintage black tolex hardshell case with blue plush interior is included.","brand":"Epiphone","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":42258293522688,"sku":"840767","price":7999.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0550\/4437\/4714\/products\/medium_017428cd-0644-4f66-8cfc-207a2f99a297.jpg?v=1751529451","url":"https:\/\/mmguitarbar.com\/products\/1966-epiphone-riviera-e360-tdc-vintage-electric-guitar-sparkling-burgundy-w-case-kalamazoo","provider":"Mike \u0026 Mike's Guitar Bar","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
