Up for sale, a 1965 Epiphone Casino E-230T in excellent condition and in perfect working order, finished in “Royal Tan” and complete with a hardshell case. This uncommon single-pickup iteration of the Casino platform delivers plenty of glassy P-90 cut and woody, percussive bark. Acoustically, the fully hollow thinline maple body offers both a relaxed, smooth low end and clear treble snap. This Casino E-230T is featherweight at 5lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Tuners include original Kluson Deluxe gears on the bass side and similarly aged (also vintage) Gibson Deluxe gears on the treble side. Plastics include original reflector cap knobs and a replica wide-bevel pickguard. The pickup and harness were replaced early in the instrument’s life (circa 1970 given the potentiometer codes), and are genuine Gibson/Epiphone components.
The Royal Tan nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, and this unique Sunburst variant was used almost exclusively by Epiphone in the ‘60s, distinctive from the bursts seen on Gibson instruments produced at the same Kalamazoo, MI factory. There is extensive lacquer checking across the body, with faint buckle rash on the back central to the lower bout, as well as some expected small nicks and dings from decades of careful use. The gloss on the neck profile also exhibits horizontal checking and various minor marks worn smooth through play.
The original gray Epiphone hardshell case with blue plush interior is included.
