Up for sale, a 1964 Silvertone model 1457 “Amp-in-Case” in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in the USA by Danelectro for the Sears-exclusive Silvertone line, this top-tier “Amp-in-Case” guitar was only produced from late 1964 to ‘66, featuring a pair of lipstick single coil pickups, a 25“ scale length, and a Red Sunburst sparkle finish.

The body is crafted from Danelectro’s pairing of a Masonite top and back over a poplar frame and centerblock, resulting in a bold, barking natural acoustic quality, featherweight at 6lbs 2oz. The pickups deliver Danelectro jangle and sparkle, with chiming trebles and a focused, bubbly bass response. When paired with the in-case tube amp, this 1457 offers surprisingly bold cleans and sizzling overdrive with a low noise floor and onboard footswitchable Tremolo. This Silvertone 1457 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The amp functions flawlessly, with an untouched circuit and CTS pots dated to the 40th week of 1964. The original tube complement comprises a 6V6GT power tube, 6X4 rectifier, 12AX7 preamp tube, and a 12AX7 for the tremolo. The original Jensen C8T 8” speaker dates to the 42nd week of 1964. Controls include Volume and Tone knobs, with Strength and Speed knobs for the footswitchable tremolo (footswitch not included).

The case with built-in amp is exceedingly well-kept, with barely a mark on the gray speckled exterior or gold grillcloth.
