{"product_id":"1964-fender-jaguar-vintage-pre-cbs-offset-electric-guitar-sonic-blue-w-case","title":"1964 Fender Jaguar Vintage Pre-CBS Offset Electric Guitar Sonic Blue w\/ Case","description":"Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Jaguar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Jaguar is 100% original save for an exceptionally well-executed Sonic Blue nitro lacquer refinish and pitch perfect light relic. Produced in the first weeks of '64, this guitar has all the essential Pre-CBS Jaguar features, with a mint green nitrate pickguard, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlay, hand-wound black bobbin pickups, and Kluson single line tuners.\r\rThis articulate natural response of the guitar translates very well through the original staggered pole black bobbin single coil pair. The pickups easily deliver the raw twang, chime, and cut for which these coils are known, and in design and output they're virtually identical to a Strat pickup, albeit with the metal \"claw\" surrounds that both focus the magnetic field of the pickups and reduce unwanted hum. The myriad switching options and original 1Meg potentiometers cover the traditional Fender single coil territory, yet with the incredible cutting top end that only comes with a Jag. In the Lead Circuit (hexagonal control plate), the \"strangle\" switch cuts low end and can make for great tic-tac tones, especially with flatwounds. The Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower horn introduces a set of darker tonalities exclusive to the neck pickup, with a richness and low end girth that fills things out nicely and is great for driving a tube amp or your favorite fuzz box. Weighing 8lbs 5oz, this Jaguar has been professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar (where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments) with 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.\r\rThe maple neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut, gaining notable heft and roundness in the higher registers, with good shoulder in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815\" deep at the 1st fret, and .980\" at the 12th. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard is a dark, tight-grained cut with clay dot inlay and the original slender frets which have good meat and crown, showing virtually no wear. The nut has Fender's \"B\" 1 5\/8\" width, and the matching Sonic Blue headstock features a \"Fender Jaguar\" waterslide decal which certainly looks the part with the correct \"cloud\" around the text. The original Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines are intact with light surface patina (save for the High E gear which is a matching aged reissue), functioning as intended. On the neck heel, the January, 1964 date stamp is clean and bold, with a flush truss rod nut that has needed sparingly little adjustment in the last half century.\r\rOn the body, all of the electronics work as they should and are 100% original, with original windings on both black bobbin pickups, and Stackpole pots that date to the 8th week of '64. The body routes are all original save for tiny channels for routing the wiring added between the pickup routes and control plates. All of the original chrome control plates are intact with surprisingly clean plating, and the stock bridge fits cleanly over the flip-up string mute which retains its original hardened foam. One of the best vibrato units ever designed, this Jaguar can execute everything from very subtle warbles and shimmies to deeper expressive dives that jump back to the original pitch with ease. The original mint green pickguard is extremely clean, sitting flat with minimal shrinkage.\r\rThe Sonic Blue nitro lacquer finish is far and away one of the nicest professional refinishes we've ever seen on a Pre-CBS Fender, featuring tight horizontal lacquer checking and just the right tinge of greening in the clear coat. The pristine shade of Sonic Blue is also preserved beneath the pickguard and control plates with the \"tan lines\" one expects on a vintage finish. The playwear on the instrument is ostensibly simulated as part of the relic process, including finish chips down to the white primer coat on the back and body parameter, and some scuffing on the back lower bout body edge. The ambered nitro gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless.\r\rThe original black tolex hardshell case is included. The case features a small Fender logo on the exterior, black leather ends, original trio of functional latches, and stock handle.","brand":"Fender","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":40398252966074,"sku":"L24942","price":6499.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0550\/4437\/4714\/products\/medium_5f8489c7-3fc1-44db-a1bc-8ff07543462b.jpg?v=1751506060","url":"https:\/\/mmguitarbar.com\/products\/1964-fender-jaguar-vintage-pre-cbs-offset-electric-guitar-sonic-blue-w-case","provider":"Mike \u0026 Mike's Guitar Bar","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
