Go to the shopUp for sale, a 1962 Fender Princeton in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, freshly serviced and complete with the original Victoria Luggage slip cover and one-button molded footswitch. This genuine vintage Brown Panel era Princeton features a very original 6G2-A circuit, loaded with a matched pair of vintage 6V6 power tubes. The Princeton has a tone that is very dynamic and warm, with crystalline clean tones giving way to rich, saturated overdrive when turning up the Volume knob. The circuit is as pure and straightforward as they come, and the single Tone knob has a surprisingly wide range. The bias based tremolo circuit has a strong, dimensional pulse and particularly broad range of speeds too.
The circuit retains the original pair of Schumacher transformers which date to the 33rd (power) and 4th (output) weeks of '62, and the preamp retains the original blue molded Ajax tone caps, which have a particularly sweet, musical tonal character. The original Stackpole pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 26th week of '62. The power supply retains the original Astron multi-section can cap that's purely aesthetic, with new power supply caps fitted inside the chassis. Two smaller electrolytic caps have also been sleeved in their original Astron tubes, and there are three new Sprague Orange Drops in the preamp as well. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tube complement includes a matched pair of vintage 6V6s (one JAN and one Sylvania), a GE-branded 5Y3 rectifier, and modern valves in the preamp.
The speaker is the original gold frame Oxford 10K5, with a date code on the edge of the frame from '62. The speaker has also been professionally reconed. The original tube chart is near-mint with sharp corners and unfaded paper, retaining an "LH" date stamp which translates to August of 1962.
This amp features the original rough brown tolex, wheat grillcloth, and the stock leather handle (largely intact but not for lifting). There's very minimal wear on the tolex and just one small pinhole on the grillcloth. The faceplate is very clean, retaining the original brown barrel knobs.
The original Victoria Luggage canvas slip cover is included, along with the original molded one-button footswitch.
