Professionally refinished by Marty Bell in a pink metalflake sparkle complete with a vintage Stratotone headstock decal, this USA-made Harmony retains 100% original electronics and hardware. This unique version of the H46 Stratotone Mars was made exclusively for the Sears company and would have originally been branded \"Silvertone.\" A fully hollow instrument, the Mars has the same body and neck as the H49 Stratotone Jupiter, yet the Mars boasts a pair of \"Hershey Bar\" pickups (like the highly sought after Harmony H44 model).The tone is very sweet and balanced, with great clarity for complex chord voicings and a roundness that benefits single note lines. The bridge pickup can snap and twang with the best without being brittle or thin, and the neck pickup has absolutely huge low end, especially when you roll off the Tone control, without sacrificing note definition. And at only 5lbs 7oz with fully hollow maple construction, the guitar delivers a clear, snappy acoustic tone with nice bark. We've had this Stratotone professionally setup here at Mike \u0026amp; Mike's Guitar Bar, strung with fresh 10-46 roundwound strings and easy-playing action.The neck has a substantial D-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder, worthy of the \"baseball bat\" moniker and measuring .925\" deep at the 1st fret and 1.005\" at the 10th before the profile flattens into the heel. The dyed maple fretboard retains the original slender frewire with well-rounded crowns, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays well in every register and the neck is straight, playing cleanly up the 24 1\/4\" scale. The nut is a modern hand-carved piece of bone measuring 1 3\/4\" in width. The stock open-gear tuning machines turn smoothly with original white buttons, and the headstock face features a new vintage-spec Harmony Stratotone logo and atomic graphic.All of the electronics work as they should, the harness is stock with Stackpole pots, and both Hershey Bar pickups have just been professionally rewound to original spec. Plastics include the original pickguard and a quartet of modern cream cupcake knobs. The rosewood floating bridge is original, along with the chrome trapeze tailpiece.
