Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson J-45 ADJ in excellent condition, complete with a hardshell case. A golden age example of Gibson's quintessential dreadnought model, this guitar features a classic '59 neck profile carve, substantial but not as chunky as earlier "baseball bat" shapes.
Tonewoods include a solid Sitka spruce top, Honduran mahogany back and sides, and a one-piece mahogany neck capped with a jet black Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Offering a bold, punchy soft shoulder dreadnought sound with ample projection, this J-45 is delicate when lightly strummed and provides plenty of bass register kick and round treble sparkle when played with authority. The ceramic saddle also has more sustain and note detail than later versions of the J-45 ADJ model (which would pivot to plastic and then rosewood saddles). The guitar weighs 4lbs 4oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 12-53 bronze strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

A very early example of the "ADJ" model, this J-45 has the distinctive large bridge adjustment screws typically only seen from 1957-58, while the depth of the neck carve places this J-45's production at early '59. There is also a small "2" stamped on the top back headstock edge for some minor cosmetic flaw unidentifiable after 65+ years.
The Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is 100% original with no touch-up or overspray, and there is only one professionally repaired and very slight split on top behind the bridge, just to the left of the center seam. There is pick wear across the strum path, one additional C-shaped scuff just north of the sound hole, very faint buckle wear central to the back and just a handful of additional small marks from careful use. The finish on the bass-side mahogany rim is fractionally hazy with very broad lacquer checking, and the gloss on the neck profile is extremely clean and free of palm wear.
A circa 1990s Gibson Montana brown tolex hardshell case is included.
