Up for sale, a 1956 Fender Champ in excellent condition, freshly serviced and complete with its original transformers and a vintage tube set. It doesn't get much more pure and elegant than the 5F1 Champ, and this studio favorite delivers freakishly dynamic and glassy tube tone that can go from clean to fully saturated overdrive with a twist of the single knob.
The circuit boasts the original transformer pair, manufactured for Fender by Triad, and the amp features a pair of modern high quality tubular signal caps. The electrolytic caps have also been upgraded with modern Spragues. The original Stackpole pot is present, as are the carbon comp resistors and input jacks. Â The original two-prong power cable is also present. The chassis itself boasts a clean chrome-plated control plate with the majority of the original white silkscreen lettering. The tube set consists of an GE 5Y3 rectifier and 6V6 power tube, with a single Sylvania-branded preamp tube.
The speaker is a vintage-correct alnico magnet Oxford E8V 8" driver with a clean frame, and the sticker on the side of the magnet dates to 1969. The tube chart is fully intact as well, noting the 5F1 circuit and stamped with an "FG" code that translates to July of 1956.
The original lacquered tweed is in excellent shape, as is the oxblood grillcloth and even the leather handle. The tweed shows light ambering, along with some general modest scuffing and corner wear.
