Up for sale, a 1950s Guyatone LG-60B in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a chipboard case. The LG-60B was one of Guyatone’s very first electric guitar designs, clearly inspired by the Valco/Supro Dual Tone (itself iterating on the nascent Les Paul) and crafted at the Tokyo Sound factory in Nagano, Japan.
Offering playability well beyond most examples, this Guyatone has a straight neck, with a freshly planed and refretted fretboard, ensuring easy playability in every register. The wiring harness has also been upgraded with modern 500k CTS pots.
Tonewoods include a maple body, maple neck with a deep V-shaped carve, and a bound rosewood fingerboard, yielding an immediate, cutting and resonant natural acoustic quality. The pair of “High Sensitivity” single coil pickups feature a unique, oversized design with a hybrid metal/plastic cover (and a gold sparkle insert). Sonically, they fit comfortably in the “gold foil” family, with sweet trebles, tight lows, exquisite percussive cut and a broad, open quality heightened by the 11-49 flatwound strings. This LG-60B has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and accurate intonation.
